Blackdog Antiques was founded back in 1984, but started  in 1976 with two shops in South London. In 1982 with two young children we decided to relocate to Norfolk and create our own 'Good Life' on a one acre small holding close to the Suffolk/Norfolk border.   A large shop became available in the small market town of Bungay just a mile from us and as we still needed to earn a living it was a must have.

The name was really a no brainer.  We had a stuffed black dog in a glass case dating back to Victorian times that we had acquired through a house clearance in London and Bungay is famous for the legend of the 'Black Shuck'.  We stayed in Bungay for 29 years re-locating to Halesworth 2014.  

 

Blacdog now resides in a beautiful Grade II* listed Tudor building that dates back to1570 and can be found at the top of the historic Market Place in Halesworth.   Halesworth is a typical Suffolk Market town but with the advantage of being just 9 miles from Southwold and the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast.

 

In 2018 after the success of a monthly 'Brocante' in Halesworth, Blackdog Events was founded. We hold around 10 major fairs a year attracting on average 70 - 100 dealers who offer an eclectic mix of Antique, Vintage, Architectural and Mid-Century Modern pieces.
